(AP Photo/Jessica Hill, File) Netflix is coming out with a new docuseries chronicling the rise and fall of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) co-founder and Connecticut resident Vince McMahon. The media company announced that its six-part series, “Mr. McMahon,” will premiere on the streaming service Sept. 25. In the documentary, director Chris Smith (“Tiger King)” aims to “pull back the curtain to reveal the true Vince McMahon obscured beneath the persona he presented to the world,” the Netflix release states. “Mr. McMahon” will explore how the billionaire turned now-Stamford-based WWE from a small business to a global entertainment company and one of the world’s largest wrestling promotions. It will also cover the sexual misconduct allegations that led to his departure from the company in January 2024.
The series is a deep dive into the life and career of Vince McMahon, exploring his rise to prominence in the world of professional wrestling. It delves into his business acumen, his controversial decisions, and his impact on the industry. The series is expected to be a comprehensive and insightful look at the man behind the wrestling empire.
The docuseries, titled “The Last Dance,” was supposed to be a comprehensive look at Michael Jordan’s career, but it was ultimately delayed due to the allegations of sexual misconduct against Michael Jordan. The allegations were made by former Bulls teammate, Grant Hill. Grant Hill claimed that Jordan had sexually harassed him during his time with the Bulls. The allegations were made public in 2021, and they caused a significant stir in the basketball world.
The lawsuit claims that McMahon, who was then the CEO of WWE, pressured Grant to engage in sexual acts with him in exchange for her job security. She alleges that he used his position of power to manipulate and coerce her into these acts. The lawsuit also alleges that McMahon and Laurinaitis conspired to silence Grant and prevent her from speaking out about the alleged abuse.
As of February, McMahon and his wife and WWE co-founder, Linda McMahon, appear to still be living in Connecticut. Last year, they sold their condominium at Park Tower in downtown Stamford. Hearst Connecticut Media previously reported that both are registered Republicans in Greenwich, according to the voter-registration database on the Secretary of the State’s website.
