The Early Years of the Hardy Boyz
The Hardy Boyz, consisting of Matt and Jeff Hardy, first emerged in 1994 as a tag team in the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) promotion. They were known for their high-flying moves and innovative tag team maneuvers. The brothers quickly gained popularity due to their charisma, athleticism, and in-ring chemistry. Their early success was marked by a series of high-profile feuds with other top tag teams, including the Steiner Brothers and the nWo. The Hardy Boyz also developed a distinctive style, blending technical grappling with high-flying acrobatics. Their matches often featured intricate sequences of moves, showcasing their exceptional athleticism and teamwork.
The Rise to Prominence
As the Hardy Boyz continued to hone their craft, they began to make a name for themselves in the wrestling world. In 1999, they joined World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and quickly became one of the most popular tag teams in the company. They were known for their intense matches, which often featured a mix of high-flying moves and technical grappling. The Hardy Boyz also became known for their rivalry with the Dudley Boyz, a team of brothers who were also known for their high-flying moves.
“Matt’s debut should have been massive when he showed up in AEW, but it was during the pandemic,” Dreamer stated on “Busted Open Radio” about the evolution of Matt’s comeback post-WWE. “Then, Jeff comes in, it’s nice, but then right away, people start criticizing doing, like, his hand thing to make the save … Jeff had some moments there, but then, it was back to, ‘Oh, they’re not utilizing The Hardys the way The Hardys should be utilized.’ And then, Matt is showing up again, like, in TNA, with that Broke character. It’s like, ‘Oh, we’re going to see this version that we really like.'”
The crowd erupted in cheers as the Hardy Boyz, Jeff and Matt, made their triumphant return to the WWE.
