As previously posted, Jeff Hardy was originally scheduled to face Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE’s Night of Champions pay-per-view before being drafted to SmackDown. The original plan had Hardy winning the title from Jericho. Officials have wanted to take the belt off Jericho so he could further his program with Shawn Michaels without the Intercontinental Championship getting lost in the shuffle.
